As many of you know, a large part of my work in the Circuit was centred on Ordsall, and in particular, the Café Project. After five years... and many setbacks,... the café eventually opened at the end of June 2005.
The three floor Victorian premises are available for the community. The ground floor is the café, and the rest of the premises are divided into different sized rooms for community use. SARELI (Salford Refugee Link) have their offices on the premises, there is an IT suite in the basement, facilities for a crèche, a hairdressing salon, and a parent and toddler group meets on Thursday afternoons. These are just some of the things that are going on and available.
BUT, this was not just my work. You can be involved as well. We need volunteers to help in the café. If you can spare a few hours a week, or even a month, please phone Alison.
Visiting the Lowry? Why not come and have a coffee or snack with us? We are only a couple of minutes away, and coffee is only 60p!!
It is good to see that some people in the Circuit have already visited the café, and two of our fellowship groups have spent the afternoon of their meeting at the café. If you are planning to come as a group, please let Alison know beforehand.
So, a brief outline of ‘The Café. Please feel free to contact us if you want any further information. If you feel you may be able to help in any way, or if you wish to use the premises for meetings etc.
