In response to the call from the 2006 Methodist Conference to pray for better relationships between peoples of different faiths and to do something to encourage interfaith understanding in their locality the Salford Circuit held an evening in which Anjum Anwar, Education Officer for the Lancashire Council of Mosques was in conversation with the Superintendent Minister of the Circuit, the Reverend Roger Stubbings. Also present was a representative of the Sikh faith. About 40 people attended and questions from the floor ranged from the warmth of hospitality that people had experienced on visiting Muslim countries to education and faith schools.
This followed up the visit last Sunday to Monton Methodist Church of twenty Turkish Muslims, who, in their commitment to interfaith dialogue joined in morning worship.
