ORDSALL CAFE PROJECT |

As many of you know a large part of my work in the circuit is centred on Ordsall and in particular the Cafe Project. After five years .. and many setbacks .. the cafe eventually opened at the end of June 2005. |

Derelict council shop premises have been transformed into a cafe and focus for community activity. This has been financed mainly by funding from the Lottery, European Regional Development Funding, and grants from Henry Smith Trust, Church Urban Fund and Tudor Trust. Smaller amounts have been received from other sources. We employ a manager, an administrator and a cafe organizer. |

A note from |

The three floor Victorian premises are available for the community. The ground floor is the cafe and the rest of the premises are divided into different sized rooms for community use. SARELI (Salford Refugee Link) have their offices on the premises; there is an IT suite in the basement; there are facilities for a crèche; a hairdressing salon (at present we are looking for someone interested in renting the salon); a parent and toddler group meets on Thursday afternoons…..just some of the things that are going on and available. |
