A Potted History

Salem Methodist Church has repeatedly demonstrated that ‘Church’ means people rather than a building. The Society can trace its roots back to the beginnings of the Methodist New Connexion in 1797, and has made use of nine different sets of premises. Mobility and flexibility have been keywords for these pilgrim people!

The Church no longer has its own building, so there are no worries about building repairs, vandalism or heating bills.

Sunday Services take place in the attractive, warm and comfortable lounge of Midfield Court Housing Complex. We enjoy a good relationship with the residents. Some of them belong to our congregation, and others join us for outings and for our annual Carol Singing event.

Our Bright Hour group meets each Wednesday at 2:30pm in the upstairs room at Broughton Library.

Any information about any of the previous premises would be gratefully received - please e-mail us.

You will be welcome at any of our Services.
